Here at AWS we take great pride in doing everything that we can to support our local community. The Greater Houston area has been so good to my family and I, that we are always inclined to give back whenever we can. It is a core principal of our business. Whether it’s donating a softener system to help build houses for the Wounded Warrior project or Habitat for Humanity. We love being out in our community and helping others.

We also don’t forget about our four-legged family members. On September 26th we will be supporting and lending a hand to our good friends at the Houston Humane Society. Every year, they hold an event called Poochamania to help raise funds for their non-profit, it’s also a great way for our company to get involved with something that is close to our hearts, our pets. Most don’t know this, but one of our favorite things about our lives are our pets and animals. We have a few horses and they are of course members of our families…we also love our dogs.

The work that the Human Society does in our community is amazing and the volunteers all give of their hearts and time each time a new animal is rescued. Think about how important their work is, most of us wouldn’t know the love of some of the pets in our lives. Think about all of the pets you have had in your life, there is a large chance that one of your pets was either rescued by or adopted from the Humane Society.

On a personal note, one of our most beloved pets was adopted from the Humane Society. One of the younger members of our family was performing for her school choir at a local mall during the holidays and as she was leaving the mall, she spotted something that just melted her heart. The sweetest 3-year-old basset hound. The dog had been abused by its previous owner and was very skittish and didn’t like to be around people, especially grown up males. Right after the performance, she placed a call to her parents pleading her case as to why this was the animal that we needed to adopt. Keep in mind we were not looking to adopt a pet. We ended up heading back to the mall after the performance, to adopt “Holly”. We wanted to change her name to signify the special time and circumstances with which she came to be in our family. There is not a day that goes by where we aren’t reminded of or see pictures of Holly. She was such a cherished part of our family and after 13 years, it was time to put to her rest. I am happy that we were able to give Holly a good life. Holly loved going on walks and loved sleeping even more. I smile thinking about all the road trips and memories that we had with her. She was a special girl.

I’m glad that we don’t have to think about what our family would have been like without Holly. Our lives are better because she was in it. I’m sure that’s how you feel about your pets and to think that we would have never known Holly’s love without the Houston Humane Society.

Poochamania is going to be in a couple of weeks, on September 26th at 11am and we are going to be there to show support and help the great folks at the Houston Humane Society raise some much-needed funds for the upcoming months.

The Unconditional Love Of Pets - Alamo Water Solutions · August 15, 2020 at 4:03 pm

[…] What a year this has been. 2020 has brought with it challenges for all of us. There is no doubt that there are lots of things that we should all be worried about, but we can't forget about our four legged family members. Especially those pets that don't have homes. If you have a pet, you know how much love they add to your life and to your home. Last year we told you about the loss of one of our pets, Holly. She was a Basset Hound who we all loved so much. Shortly after Holly passed, of course we were sad for a while and eventually grew to miss the love in our home because she was there. After some time passed we felt the need to add to our family. You know that unconditional love and emotional support that can only come from a pet. If you've ever had pets, you know what we are talking about. We still miss Holly to this day. You can read more about her story here. […]
